View all search resultsescuers are working around the clock to search for 21 victims still missing after two major landslides in Central Java, as the combined death toll from the disasters rises to 30.
In Cilacap regency, hundreds of personnel continue efforts to find three missing residents of Cibeunying village in Majenang district, which was hit by landslides on Nov. 13.
“The team continues to work tirelessly, maximizing all available resources to accelerate the search,” said Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator Muhammad Abdullah on Friday as quoted by state news agency Antara.
He said the search had been particularly challenging because debris in several areas reached more than 10 meters deep, while some locations were difficult for heavy machinery to access.

According to Abdullah, search efforts are now focused on two sites, supported by drones, K9 units and excavators. The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) have also carried out weather-modification operations after poor weather previously hampered rescue work.
He emphasized that the operation was running at full capacity with rescuers’ safety as the top priority.
