F

ormer workers at textile maker PT Sri Rezeki Isman (Srtiex) in Sukoharjo regency, Central Java, have demanded a new liquidator to handle the payment of their severance pay and holiday bonus.

Laid off in October 2024, workers did not receive their rights after the company ceased operations in March.

Some 250 laid-off workers made the demand during a rally in front of the Semarang Commercial Court on Monday. Representing some 8,500 laid-off workers, the protesters carried banners and placards demanding the administrator be replaced.

“We are here requesting the commercial court judge to replace the liquidator,” Suwandi, one of the laid off workers in the finishing department, said.

“We have waited for almost a year, but severance pay and holiday bonuses were not paid to us, even though that is our right.”

Five worker representatives then met the Semarang Commercial Court chief judge.
