uthorities have intensified a manhunt for a defendant facing the death penalty who escaped after attending a court session in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, on Tuesday.

Deli Serdang Prosecutor’s Office Acting Intelligence Unit Head Andi Sitepu said joint teams from the prosecutor’s office and the police are continuing their search, focusing on locations the fugitive is believed to be most likely to visit

“The search is still ongoing. We have requested assistance from the Adhyaksa Monitoring Center to help monitor and track the defendant’s whereabouts,” Andi said.

The Adhyaksa Monitoring Center is a specialized unit within the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) tasked with tracking, monitoring and locating fugitives and suspects in corruption and other criminal cases nationwide.

Andi said authorities have so far searched areas ranging from the court complex to Bandar Baru, Berastagi, Karo Regency and Kualanamu International Airport, but the effort has yielded no results.
