ith peanut sauce on top of slightly boiled vegetables, gado-gado is a local favorite dish to eat for lunch or dinner. From Glodok in West Jakarta to the capital city's southern areas around Kebayoran, here's a list of the best places to find gado-gado in Jakarta.

Gado-Gado Boplo

Found in several locations, including Jatinegara and Fatmawati, Gado Gado Boplo has certain characteristics that defines its brand. In addition to enjoying its gado-gado's traditional taste, patrons can also expect its restaurants to have a good standard of cleanliness.

Gado-Gado Direksi

Established in 1967, Gado Gado Direksi has been through a lot. Known as a hot spot for high-class people to enjoy the best gado-gado in town, the place has its own traditional standard of taste while keeping its interior like it’s still the 1960s.

Gado-Gado Cemara

With a name taken from the street Jl. Cemara in Menteng, Central Jakarta, this place is one of the oldest gado-gado eateries in the capital. Although it has opened several branches, Gado Gado Cemara has maintained its taste and easygoing atmosphere.

Gado-Gado AA

All the way to Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta, is where you'll find this famous eatery. Gado-Gado AA is a favorite among fans of the dish for its affordable price, just under Rp 20,000 (US$1.50) for a single portion.

Gado-Gado Bonbin

Formerly situated close to a zoo before it moved to Ragunan in South Jakarta, Gado-Gado Bonbin has been serving its patrons since 1960 with a killer combination of authentic taste and old-school ambiance. 

Gado-Gado Kertanegara

If you think the only proper way to eat gado-gado is by combining the meal with a warung (food stall) ambiance, then this eatery is perfect for you. Opened in the 1990s, Gado-Gado Kertanegara also provides excellent service and allows its patrons to choose between spicy and non-spicy peanut sauce for the dish. (kes)
