aving successfully held Japanese pop culture event Anime Festival Asia (AFA) in Jakarta since 2012, the organizer SOZO is now collaborating with Sotsu, the organizer of C3, to present C3 AFA. To be held at JIEXPO, Central Jakarta, the event is scheduled to run from Aug. 18 to 20.
The joint event aims to be a platform for Japanese cultural performances by providing various related content, including anime, comics, games, music and novels.
C3 AFA will mark its debut in Bangkok in June. Aside from Jakarta, it will also be held in other cities, such as Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong.

The AFA was first held in Singapore in 2008. The festival has become a place for Japanese-culture enthusiasts to gather, buy anime merchandise and watch performances by Japanese musicians. In Jakarta, the 2016 AFA garnered 62,000 visitors.
Meanwhile, C3 was first held in 2000 in Tokyo. Focusing on anime and games, the event was also held in Hong Kong and Beijing. (asw)
