Compared to working at the office, working from home is often considered a more convenient and fun option.
However, working from home can be challenging, such as in the necessity to maintain self-motivation. When the environment is too relaxing, there is a chance that one might neglect their work, especially if they work from home, a place where a certain sense of comfort would be considerably hard to resist.
To tackle such issues, here are several tips for those working from home as compiled by tempo.co.
Bathe and 'dress up'
Even if you do not need to leave the house, bathe and put on your work clothes. It will help you to stay in the right frame of mind to be productive.
Maintain a routine
Consistency is always important. Get up at a fixed time and start and stop working at the same time every day. Maintaining such a routine will help you to be more consistent in fulfilling your target.
It is easy to skip lunch when there is no one there to remind you. However, make sure to take your lunch break. Lunch could add on to the motivation in the morning and also be the needed pause in your work rhythm. Inserting a lunch break in your schedule and dividing your working phase into segments, instead of working hard endlessly, could help you stay away from procrastination.
Use tools designated only for work
Having specific tools and a workstation, including a laptop, PC or special tablet, used solely for work is advised, as it will help to limit the temptation of doing other things while working, thus helping you to finish work faster.
Refrain from working in places where you like to play
The human’s bod has a system that makes it react in certain ways to certain environments. For example, when someone tries to work in bed, their body will prepare itself to sleep instead. The same thing applies to other spaces in the house, such as the living room, playground or perhaps that comfortable couch. Therefore, it is important to set a specific place for working.
Decide your level of tolerance to sound
There are people who are comfortable listening to music while working, while there are those who need total silence to think clearly. If you happen to be the second type, consider using noise-cancelling headphones in order to help you work better.

There is no limitation to working only from your house. Try working in a new environment like a café, a park or other places. A change of environment may be needed to keep the creativity flowing.
Give yourself a reward
No matter how committed to work you are, sometimes you might lose your motivation. When this happens, try giving yourself a reward, such as treating yourself to your favorite food after you've managed to finish one task. This method can help motivate you, as it gives you something to look forward to. (mas/kes)
