he Ministry of Defense-controlled unified military forces of Japan, Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF), has teamed up with The Irregular at Magic High School anime for its 2017 recruitment campaign.

The poster has attracted various responds. According to WowJapan.Asia, some netizens disagreed with the move as they consider the character not suitable for the role as he is only a high school student in the beginning of the anime's story.

This is not the first time JSDF uses anime for recruitment purposes. It previously teamed up with anime TV series Gate back in 2015 and 2016.

Written by Tsutomu Sato and illustrated by Kana Ishida, The Irregular at Magic High School is based on a light novel with the same name that tells the story of Tatsuya Shiba and his younger sister, Miyuki, who are part of the Magic High School. In addition to anime, the novel has also been adapted to comic books and video games. (wir/kes)
