Tabula Rasa was among the films featured at the 22nd Sofia International Film Festival (SIFF).

Antara reported that the movie was screened on Friday during the Indonesia Movie Night event at Cinema House in Sofia, Bulgaria. Tabula Rasa was included in a special segment based on the request of the festival committee, as two other Indonesian films had failed to join the competition.

Directed by Adriyanto Dewo, Tabula Rasa tells the story of a Papuan man named Hans (Jimmy Kobogau) and his unexpected fate. Hans comes to Jakarta to become a professional soccer player. However, he fails to continue the training, which leads him to meet Mak Uwo (Dewi Irawan). From Mak Uwo, he learns to be a cook in a Padang restaurant.

Revolving around Padang dishes, Tabula Rasa displays a plethora of food shots to make audiences salivate. In addition to the screening, the audience was also pampered with Padang's signature dish, rendang (beef simmered in coconut milk and spices), which was also shown in the movie.

Tabula Rasa producer Sheila Timothy expressed her happiness because the audience in Sofia seemed to enjoy the movie. Sheila hoped that the movie could put the audience in the spirit of celebrating diversity.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Albania and Macedonia Sri Astari Rasjid expressed her hopes that the integrated culinary, film and tourism promotion could increase the numbers of tourists visiting Indonesia. (jes/wng)
