Five local brands to steal attention in California streetwear show

Here are the five local brands that will be promoted at the Agenda Show in Long Beach, California, the United States, slated for June 28 to 29.

ive local streetwear brands are set to showcase their work at the lifestyle fashion trade show Agenda Show in Long Beach, California, the United States, slated for June 28 to 29.

Established in 2003, Agenda Show focuses on the streetwear, athletic wear, denim, footwear, surfing and skate fashion categories and boasts more than 10,000 visitors from the US and 50 other countries every year.

Facilitated by the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf), the participation is said to further increase fashion as one of the agency's highlighted sectors in Indonesia.

"Hopefully this support will be able to boost the local streetwear fashion industry and make it go global," said Bekraf marketing deputy Joshua Puji Mulia Simandjuntak in a statement.

Below are the local brands that will be promoted at the Agenda Show, following a selection of a two-week open registration and two curation phases. 

Elhaus

Based in Jakarta, the modern menswear and denim brand focuses on making fine-quality garments with modern aesthetics, while still preserving traditional methods and values. 

Among its products are outerwear, T-shirts, hoodies, pants and salvaged and non-salvaged denim.

Paradise Youth Club

Focusing on menswear, Paradise Youth Club boasts cutting-edge urban street fashion from the 1990's era.

Its products of tees, sweatshirts, jackets and hats can be found in stores in Jakarta as well as other countries like Singapore, France, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom. 

OldblueCo

This Jakarta-based brand focuses on denim for men. "Inspired by the working class throughout the days, Oldblue Co. brings back the essence of jeans, which is an item of clothing to be worn outside and an everyday wear," read the statement on its official Facebook account. 

"We offer a pair of jeans in the simplest and the most basic possible way. No gimmick, no washes, no excessive marketing, no expensive packaging. Only a pair of well constructed jeans with decent fabric and ready to be worn everyday."

Leather goods are also among its collections, aside from jeans and workwear.

Monstore 

Established in 2008, Monstore wittily described itself as an "art clothing line with our daily life as its scary tales."

Among its offerings are men's and women's clothing, accessories, art, gifts and decoratives.

Pot Meets Pop Denim 

Founded in 2009, this Bandung-based denim brand made all of its products in the West Java city as a home industry. 

Currently distributed across the archipelago as well as abroad, it offers various modern designs of pants, shirts, T-shirts, jackets, vests and accessories for men. (kes)
