Action-comedy film Wiro Sableng is scheduled to open in Malaysia on Sept. 27 and Singapore on Oct. 11.

According to a representative from FIP, the film will be released in 30 key cinemas across Malaysia and eight cinemas in Singapore.

Wiro Sableng producer Sheila “Lala” Timothy said the screenings were aimed at Indonesians living in both countries. “But, especially in Singapore, [we also target people] aged around 30 years old and above who watched the Wiro Sableng TV series, so they’re already familiar with it,” Lala said.

Directed by Anga Dwimas Sasongko, Wiro Sableng is planned to be screened in China and other countries as well.

Selling more than 1 million tickets at the box office since its premiere on Aug. 30, Wiro Sableng is based on a novel of the same name by the late Bastian Tito. (wir/kes)
