What’s next for the cast of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’? Henry Golding will be setting hearts aflutter again on his second Hollywood production, A Simple Favour.  (-/-)

T

here’s no official word yet on whether there will be a sequel to this year’s breakout film, Crazy Rich Asians. (Although the film’s ending does allude to a sequel.) Anyway, if it does happen, it’ll still be a long way before it hits cinemas.

In the meantime, if you’re missing the cast already, see what other projects you can catch them on:

Henry Golding

Golding will be setting hearts aflutter again on his second Hollywood production, A Simple Favour. And the good thing is, you don’t have to wait long. The mystery film, which sees Golding playing the husband to Blake Lively’s character, opens Oct. 11 in Malaysia.

After that, Golding will play a British-Vietnamese man based in London who returns to Vietnam to scatter his parents’ ashes in his third film, Monsoon.

Lastly, about a week ago, word got out that the British-Iban actor will star opposite Emilia Clarke in rom-com Last Christmas.

Constance Wu

Of course, Wu is a fixture on TV, with her series regular role on Fresh Off The Boat. She will return as the no-nonsense mother of three, Jessica Huang, on its fifth season, premiering in the United States sometime this month.

She will appear on the big screen this Christmas with horror-comedy film, All the Creatures Were Stirring.

Also, in 2019, Wu, will be seen, or rather, heard, on Wish Dragon, an animated film about a boy and a dragon able to grant wishes. Jackie Chan is also attached to the project.

She also currently voices a character in Next Gen, a Netflix animated film about a friendship between a robot and a lonely girl.

Michelle Yeoh

Yeoh goes from slaying with her stare as Nick Young’s steely mother to literally slaying enemies in the upcoming Ip Man spin-off, Master Z: Ip Man Legacy.

Besides the martial arts project, Yeoh will act opposite Mel Gibson in Boss Level, a sci-fi action flick about a retired soldier stuck in a time loop due next year.

Later, she will star in a Chinese fantasy film, Nezha, which will benefit from Oscar-winning visual effects and sound editing teams.

Yeoh is also set to voice a character in an animated film, Blazing Samurai, about a dog who dreams of becoming of a samurai. The movie which was scheduled for release in 2017 has now been pushed to next year.

Last week, word got out that Yeoh will produce a film about Jho Low, who is allegedly the mastermind behind the 1MDB money-laundering scandal. The film will be based on the sold-out book, Billion Dollar Whale: The Man Who Fooled Wall Street, Hollywood, And The World, written by Wall Street Journal’s journalists Tom Wright and Bradley Hope.

Awkwafina

The rapper-actress is growing from strength to strength. Her next project, Paradise Hills boasts an interesting premise – rich families sending their daughters to a high-class treatment facility to mould them into perfect versions of themselves. Emma Roberts co-star in this 2019 release.

She’ll no doubt deliver the laughs as she voices a character in The Angry Birds Movie sequel due out in September next year.

Awkwafina also has a role on the TV series Weird City, set in a fictional metropolis in the not-too-distant future. It is helmed by Oscar-winning writer-director Jordan Peele.

Gemma Chan

After playing a crazy-rich Asian in Singapore, Chan will play another character who’s a part of the upper echelons of society. In Mary Queen Of Scots due for release in December, she plays Bess Of Hardwick, an aristocrat who’s a friend and confidante of Queen Elizabeth I in 16th century Europe.

Chan also has a substantial role on the highly-anticipated Captain Marvel as geneticist Dr Minnerva. The Marvel movie will be out in March.

Sonoya Mizuno

Mizuno – who portrayed Araminta Lee in Crazy Rich Asians – is currently a series regular on Netflix’s Maniac, where she plays a scientist running an experiment on a pill that claims to be able to repair the mind.

She also nabbed a lead role in the upcoming American series Devs where she will play computer engineer Lily who believes her boyfriend’s disappearance has something to do with a covert department in the tech company she works in.

Jing Lusi

Jing – who played Nick Young’s cunning ex – has signed on to psychological thriller series, The Feed, which explores a technological device placed in people’s brains, enabling their thoughts and memories to be shared instantly.

She will also star in The Romanoffs, an anthology series about a group of people who believe they are descendants of a Russian royal family, the Romanovs. It will be released this month on Amazon Prime.
