T

he Night Comes for Us, the first Netflix original film from Indonesia, has caught the attention of American comic book creator Robert Liefeld.

The Deadpool creator praised the film highly on his Twitter account, saying that The Night Comes for Us was "incredible". He was particularly impressed with the film’s fight choreography and final battle.

Written and directed by Timo Tjahjanto, The Night Comes for Us is currently available for streaming and downloading on Netflix.

The action film follows former triad enforcer Ito (Joe Taslim) on a mission to protect a young girl while trying to evade his former gang.

After watching the film, Liefeld called for Timo to helm Deadpool 3. “Give Timo Tjahjanto ALL the money for Deadpool 3!!!! [...] I have seen the future of action films and it is TIMO TJAHJANTO!!” he tweeted, adding that Indonesian cinema was influencing action films around the world.

Liefeld also expressed his concern that money would make comic films become "safer and more cookie cutter". He encouraged his Twitter followers to watch The Night Comes for Us and imagine it with comic book intellectual property (IP), referring to the creative property in comic books, such as characters, design and storyline.

Timo said he felt honored in response to Liefeld's tweets. (jes/kes)
