ollowing news that Netflix is working on an adaptation of Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy novel The Witcher, the first look of Henry Cavill as the series' main character Geralt of Rivia has been released by the video streaming platform giant.
A post on Netflix’s official account on Wednesday shows a screen test with Cavill, so far attracting more than 19,000 retweets, over 54,000 likes and 6800 comments.

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich serves as both the showrunner and executive producer of the adaptation of the fantasy saga for the streaming service.

In The Witcher's world, "witchers" are monster-hunters that use supernatural powers and body modifications to hunt monsters of myth and legend. Cavill will star alongside Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Anna Shaffer as Triss.
The series will reportedly be released on Netflix sometime next year. (acr/kes)
