inance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has 1 million followers on Instagram, which would be a good start to realize an aspiration of being a social media influencer.

"[Perhaps I can] become a selebgram [after I retire]," Sri Mulyani joked recently as quoted by Antara news agency

The term is derived from the words seleb (celebrity) and Instagram, which means Instagram celebrity, who are figures with many followers and have a significant influence. They are often asked by businesses to promote an item or service. This could be another title to the already long list of achievements by the minister, who also counts being a vocalist among her talents, where she performs with Elek Yo Band, a music group of cabinet ministers.

Sri Mulyani is already a popular public figure with significant influence on the global stage, including being a former World Bank managing director before helming Indonesia's Finance Ministry.

Her popularity, however, evidently extends beyond the world of finance and into fashion, as people are also curious about what she wears, becoming their own wardrobe inspiration.

"Sometimes when I'm shopping at the mall and I'm buying clothes, some people would want to take a picture, and they would say 'Ibu, I'll also buy the same one so we match'," Sri Mulyani said.

Sri Mulyani is also often asked by managers of tourist attractions to promote the areas, which happened when she posted pictures from visits to Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, as well as Raja Ampat in West Papua. (liz/kes)
