fter serving nearly two years in prison for blasphemy, former Jakarta governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has officially ventured into vlogging.
Ahok, who asked to be referred to as BTP following his release, posted his first video titled BTP Vlog#1 – Pulang (Coming Home) on his YouTube Channel on Friday.
The video depicts his first few hours as a free man, showing him and his eldest son Nicholas “Nicho” Sean in a car, talking about almost everything they saw during the ride home.
He expressed amazement at seeing presidential election campaign banners and the Simpang Susun Semanggi (Semanggi Interchange). The latter, also known as Simpang Ahok (Ahok Interchange), was officially opened to the public while he was serving time.
BTP also showed a ring from Hanura Party chairman Oesman “OSO” Sapta Odang, saying that OSO loaned it to him while he was in prison and he planned to return it.

He asked his son to get some water and touch the stone setting. When the stone emitted a red light, Nicho asked if there was a battery inside. “No, it’s real,” his father replied.
While chatting, BTP also asked Nicho to refrain from using harsh words. “That’s what I learned in prison,” he said, saying that such words could influence people's thoughts and hearts.
Among the many things discussed in the vlog was BTP’s expired driver's license.
Toward the end of the video, he thanked supporters who had wished him well and promised that he would upload more videos soon.
Like a seasoned vlogger, he said at the end of the video, “If you want to know more about what I want to share, you can subscribe [to my YouTube channel].” (jes/wng)
