-pop girl band BLACKPINK made their first appearance on US television with a live performance on CBS’ ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ on Monday night (US time), the band’s management agency told Yonhap.
The quartet performed their wildly successful song, “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du”, taking to the stage at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York.
Stephen Colbert himself introduced BLACKPINK as “a wildly popular K-pop group who announced their first US tour today and are making their American television debut tonight,” as reported by Yonhap.
A crowd singing various BLACKPINK songs in front of the Broadway Theater were said to have marked the launch of the K-Pop girl band’s US career this year. They also sang happy birthday to BLACKPINK member Rose, who turned 22 that day.

The launch seems to have been a success as the girl band is on the line-up for this year’s famed Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April in California.
Meanwhile, the US television debut on CBS isn’t just five minutes of fame for BLACKPINK either. The girls are set to appear on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Tuesday and “Strahan and Sara” to be aired on Friday.
BLACKPINK is also set to tour more North American cities including Hamilton and Atlanta before they move on to tour Europe and Australia.
The debut performance by BLACKPINK comes days after much-loved K-Pop boy band BTS made history on Sunday’s Grammy Awards, being the first ever K-Pop group to present an award at the event. (geo/mut)
