Indonesian publishers win LBF International Excellence Awards 2019

The London Book Fair (LBF) has recognized two Indonesian publishers with its International Excellence Awards 2019.

span id="docs-internal-guid-39b00d49-7fff-0a35-1ee6-3c1b4a98d229">Two Indonesian publishers have received the International Excellence Awards 2019 on Tuesday at the London Book Fair (LBF).

PT Bestari Buana Murni and Bentang Pustaka both won in the Market Focus Indonesia category. The category was especially created to recognize publishers in Indonesia, the book fair's Market Focus Country this year.

Bestari Buana Murni won The Market Focus Indonesia Children’s, Young Adult and Education Award for its ambitious children’s publishing program. The company publishes over 300 titles annually and has partnerships with libraries, UNICEF and Room to Read.

Bentang Pustaka won the Adult Trade Award for its “broad scope in genres and innovative ideas to connect with readers”. The publisher's catalog includes Aroma Karsa by Dewi “Dee” Lestari and Dear Tomorrow by Maudy Ayunda.

Dee Lestari is in London as one of the 12 writers selected to represent Indonesia at the book fair.

The LBF International Excellence Awards, which is held in partnership with the UK Publishers Association, consists of 17 awards and is open to all countries, with several categories open only to countries outside the UK.

“The International Excellence Awards always remind us of the innovative, important and inspiring work being done by all those in the global publishing community,” London Book Fair director Jacks Thomas said in a statement, adding that "[...] these awards show the breadth of talent working in the publishing industry around the world today." (dev/kes)
