irector and scriptwriter Joko Anwar has finally announced the teaser for Gundala, an Indonesian superhero movie set to be released in August. The announcement was posted on his Twitter account, with a simple introduction that thanked fans who have waited for quite some time.
"If others refuse to fight for justice, it doesn't mean we have to be like them," is like a mantra chanted at the beginning of the movie teaser, accompanying excerpts of the movie’s action-packed scenes.
Gundala is an Indonesian hero created by comic artist Harya “Hasmi” Suraminata that has gathered a loyal following since the release of the comic book in 1969. Hasmi, who hoped to see the movie adaptation of Gundala, passed away in November 2016.
Screenplay Films, which uploaded the teaser to YouTube wrote in the caption that Gundala the hero would grace the big screen in 2019 because the nation needed a patriot.

According to a story posted on Gundala’s official Instagram account, the person under the Gundala costume is said to be a genius scientist named Sancaka, who invented a serum that grants protection from thunder.
Sancaka was once struck by thunder and rescued by the kingdoms of Thunder and Storm, hence gaining the superpowers that help him fight for justice and become the nation’s patriot. (mut)
