rt does not only belong to the snobbish highbrow of society, nor should it only be in the form of grand paintings or intricate installations in galleries, but it can be seen everywhere.
Such is the life of the severely underrated graphic arts.
Covering a broad range of media, graphic arts are readily applied to a large number of everyday objects.
To highlight the burgeoning graphic arts scene in Indonesia, Bentara Budaya has held Triennial Graphic Arts Indonesia, a graphic arts competition making a return for its sixth iteration this year.
The competition this year also included a graphic arts workshop on April 25, a communal sketching session on April 27, and a kokoru workshop on April 30.
While the competition was originally limited to Indonesians since its inception in 2003, it opened its doors to international contestants in 2015. This year, Triennial Graphic Arts Indonesia received a total of 317 submissions from 166 contestants, spanning 26 countries.
