harlotte Field (played by Charlize Theron) is the United States Secretary of State and one of the most influential women in America. The current president (Bob Odenkirk), meanwhile, plans to become an actor. So he offers his support to Charlotte to run for the presidency and become the first female president.

On the other side of life, there is Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogen). An ordinary guy who just quit his job as a journalist, he’s used to saying what he thinks. It seems like he and Charlotte have nothing in common.

But when they meet at an event, they remember that she was his babysitter a long time ago. What she did not know was that she was his first crush ever.

Fred’s honesty and sense of humor charm Charlotte, who offers him a job as a speechwriter for her presidential campaign.

Their time together eventually leads to love, but chaotic and temperamental Fred does not blend in well with Charlotte’s glamorous public life.

Charlotte is faced with the choice of either continuing the relationship by creating a new image of Fred to be presentable, or risk her candidacy. Her professional conduct is also tested when extortion is involved.

Directed by Jonathan Levine (Snatched, The Night Before), the romantic comedy Long Shot shines a light on light political issues and a relationship that might seem lopsided.

It is equally touching and funny to see how Fred constantly reminds Charlotte to enjoy life amid her busy schedule. The couple may seem like they’re the opposite of each other, but Theron and Rogen are a joy on screen. The ending may be a bit too perfect, but it delivers an optimistic message: All’s well that ends well.

The cast also includes O´Shea Jackson Jr., June Diane Raphael, Andy Serkis and Alexander Skarsgard. (sop/wng)
