In Wu Assassins, Iko plays lead character Kai Jin, a young chef in San Francisco's Chinatown who encounters a deadly, ancient mystical spirit, Wu Xing. The encounter transformed boy-next-door Kai into the lethal and powerful Wu Assassin. Using enhanced martial arts skills, he fights five modern day criminals threatening to use supernatural powers to destroy the world.
In the production, Iko is joined by names such as Katheryn Winnick, Byron Mann, Lewis Tan, Tommy Flanagan, Tzi Ma, Lawrence Kao, Celia Au and Li Jun Li.
The series, created by John Wirth (Hell on Wheels, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and Tony Krantz (Blood & Oil, Dracula), will comprise 10 episodes. Although set in modern day San Francisco, it was shot in Vancouver, Canada, from August to November 2018.

Iko Uwais was discovered while undergoing daily training by documentary filmmaker Gareth Evans in 2007 when the latter was making a documentary on pencak silat. Iko, who was working as a driver at the time, was then cast in the lead role for Evans' first martial art movie, Merantau.
But it was Iko's role in the 2012 movie The Raid that catapulted him into international prominence, and led him to roles in international action movies such as Headshot, Triple Threat and Chinatown Express. (kes)
