he Language and Books Development Agency of the Education and Culture Ministry is currently hosting Pendek Berbahasa Daerah (Regional Language Short Film Festival).
Themed “Jaga Persatuan dalam Kebhinekaan” (Protect the Unity in Diversity), kompas.com reports that the festival has four sub-themes, namely folklore in regional languages, regional language expression and literature, proverbs in regional languages and basic vocabulary in regional languages.

According to the agency's website, each participant can only submit one original work with subtitles. The film should also never have been released before or violate intellectual property rights.
The registration for the competition began on Aug. 27 and will remain open until Sept. 30.
The winners, who will be announced in October on the agency's website, will have the opportunity to win a total prize of Rp 60 million (US$4,271.25) and get invited to the Bulan Bahasa (Language Month) event. (jes/kes)
