Indonesia to join Spiel board game exhibition in Essen, Germany

Previously 75 Indonesian board games joined a selection process to be included in the event.

p to 20 local board games will be showcased at the international board game exhibition Spiel 2019 slated for Oct. 24 to 26 at the Messe Essen exhibition center in the city of Essen, Germany.

The board games will grace the Indonesian pavilion at the event named Archipelageek, with the aim of promoting the country’s game industry products to the world.

“Spiel is one of the biggest international-scale exhibitions that has become the reference of the world’s board game industry,” said Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) marketing deputy Joshua Simandjuntak in a statement as quoted by tempo.co on Sunday. 

Previously, 75 local board games joined a selection process to be included in the event. Among the assessment criteria were the marketing aspect related to product sale value and the gameplay aspect, such as the game's acuity and uniqueness.

Among those selected to be showcased at the upcoming Spiel are a word game titled Cine: Write and Trade made by TeMaTiS Co., a Papua tribe-themed board game titled Korowai made by Tabletoys Indonesia, and a culinary-themed board game titled Ketchup Games made by Nusa Rasa. All three games are meant to be played by 2 to 4 people.

Additionally, other board games set to be displayed at the pavilion are Mindblowon, SEN: Save the Queen, The Forbidden Ritual, Bunaken: The Undersea Paradise, Belapati War, Cenayang, Coffee Crash, Dua Kerajaan, Jalan-Jalan, Kancil, Laga Pendekar, Kemudian ada Luwenak!, Prabumeru, The Adventure of Bam-Bam Aksara Jawa, Toraja, Unmask!, and War of The Words.
