entral Java’s provincial capital of Semarang is gearing up for its first drive-in concert, which is to be held on Wednesday.
Taking place in the parking area of the Recreation and Development Promotion Center (PRPP) at 7 p.m., the so-called Mahkota Charity Concert Drive-in will reportedly feature pop bands Jikustik and Soulgroove and singer Yuda Leo Betty.
According to coorganizer Mahkota Enterprise, visitors can enjoy the performances through FM radio in their cars, and all are required to follow health protocol by wearing face masks, having their body temperature checked, using hand sanitizer and staying in the car throughout the concert.
Tickets to the shows are available starting from Rp 300,000 (US$20.78) per car with two passengers and including snacks and drinks. Each car is allowed to have four passengers and each additional person will be charged starting from Rp 100,000.
The proceeds from the event are to be donated to the event's crew and artists, who have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Drive-in concerts have gained popularity around the world as a way to entertain the public in a safe way, thanks to physical distancing measures.
Local event organizer Berlian Entertainment is also set host a drive-in concert in August. (wir/kes)
