The multi-genre music event Synchronize Fest, originally scheduled to run from Oct. 2 to 4 at JIExpo, Jakarta, has been canceled.

The announcement was made on the festival’s social media accounts on Sunday.

“The organizing committee have tried their very best to realize the event, however this decision was deemed best in regard to prioritizing the health and safety of all visitors and parties involved.”

The festival is offering the option of a refund for those who have purchased tickets. Information on how to get a refund or to keep your ticket for next year is available at its website from Sept. 18 to 25.

Purchased tickets will remain valid for the 2021 festival, and ticket holders will be entitled to a complimentary Synchronize Fest 2020 special edition T-shirt.

In early July, event organizer Dyandra Promosindo said the annual festival would be held alongside CREATE by IFEX, the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), Motorbike Show and Property Weekend Fiesta under a collaborative project titled Dyandra New Adventure (DNA). On Thursday, the organizer announced that the project had been canceled.

Established in 2000, Synchronize Festival aims to celebrate various music genres. Initiated by independent recording label Demajors and Dyandra Promosindo, the festival has featured celebrated performers and newcomers, including singer Ebiet G. Ade, composer Erwin Gutawa and the late campur sari (a blend of traditional Javanese and modern music) maestro Didi Kempot. (wng)
