Newly installed Central Java Governor Bibit Waluyo said he did not have a 100-day plan because he and Vice Governor Rustriningsih were appointed for a five-year term.

Bibit has emphasized since his campaigning days he would not prepare a 100-day plan. It has become common for newly installed officials, both elected and appointed, to announce their 100-day agenda, giving the public a hint as to where their priorities lie.

"Mine is a five-year plan as I will be in the office for five years," Bibit said on Saturday after being installed by Home Minister Mardiyanto.

"I haven't decided anything yet. I haven't met with heads of agencies or my staff. I have just been installed."

When reminded of his campaign slogan Bali Deso Mbangun Deso (return to the village, build the village), Bibit promised he would keep his word.

"If the villages are prosperous, cities will also be prosperous," he said.

The installation ceremony was held at a special plenary session of the Central Java provincial legislature which was attended by all mayors and regents in the province, as well as governors of East and West Nusa Tenggara provinces.

Bibit, a retired army lieutenant general, and Rustriningsih, former Kebumen regent, won the June 22 election garnering some 44 percent of votes. The pair was nominated by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

After their installment, Mardiyanto said, Bibit and Rustriningsih belonged to the Central Java people as governor and vice governor.

"Do your best to carry out your mandate and create a prosperous society," he said.

"The agriculture sector dominates the provincial economy. The province's human resource potential is above average."

Mardiyanto, who was Central Java governor for nine years before being appointed minister, said the agriculture sector should be able to make a significant contribution by exporting fruit and other land crops.

"The province also has huge potential in its tourism and industry sectors."

In a separate development, Mardiyanto said 83 incumbent regional heads had tendered their resignations, seeking reelection (as regulated by Law No. 12/2008 on Regional Administration).

"However, this law was deemed to go against the 1945 Constitution by the Constitutional Court. This decision was made on Aug. 4 at 10:45 a.m.," he said.

"Therefore, we will still process resignations that were tendered by regional heads before the court verdict was announced."

"Incumbents who are seeking reelection after this verdict was made are no longer required to resign."
