University student Sondang Hutagalung, who apparently burned himself alive in front of the Merdeka State Palace on Dec. 7, died after an intensive care team tended to his severe burn injuries at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital, Central Jakarta, on Saturday at around 5:50 p.m.

Your comments:

What I am curious about is what else had he done than do protests? If he really cares about an issue, he would take real social action.

I mean, did he list any cases of human rights wrongdoing? Did he write a book? Did he teach the victims about how to face the problem?

I would request, if I have the right, to stop airing this news. We live in a sick society.

This widely covered news may invite others to show their more “ugly action”. Hopefully, I am not trying to introduce a too-high standard to journalists.

I hope that this will open a lot of eyes in the region and the rest of the world! Human rights must be respected! If not, the people will turn against you! SBY, open your eyes: Indonesia won’t last long — even Java will fall apart if you do not respect human rights!
