AKARTA: Graft suspect Nunun Nurbaetie was admitted to a hospital, once again, this time on an order from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Investigators from the KPK ordered doctors at Abdi Waluyo Hospital in Menteng, Central Jakarta, to conduct a thorough medical check on Nunun. She was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 23.

“It was the KPK investigators who brought Nunun to the hospital,” Law and Human Rights Deputy Minister Denny Indrayana said on Sunday, as quoted by kompas.com.

He added that investigators brought an official letter from the KPK, ordering them access to a thorough medical record on Nunun.

Nunun is a suspect in a bribery case for allegedly channeling bribe money in the form of 480 traveler’s checks to members of the House of Representatives’ banking commission in 2004 to support Miranda Goeltom in the election of Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor.

Nunun was arrested in Bangkok, Thailand, on Dec. 7, after being named an Interpol fugitive. Several days later, Nunun almost fainted during a KPK questioning session. She was later admitted to the Kramat Jati Police hospital for one week.

Nunun was sent back to the Pondok Bambu penitentiary earlier last week.

Deny said that the ministry was still in dark over the status of Nunun’s health.

“We will provide updates on the condition of Nunun’s health soon and it will be based on the opinions of professionals,” Denny said.
