AMBI: Five narcotics officers tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamines during screening conducted at the Jambi Police Narcotics Directorate on Wednesday.
Jambi Police narcotics chief Sr. Comr. Irawan David Syah said the random urine tests were done as part of standard operating procedures.
“Members of the Narcotics Directorate must be role models for other police officers as well as members of the public. Urine tests were conducted for 57 officers, from high to low-ranked officers,” he said.
According to Irawan, the five officers who tested positive for drugs would be sanctioned.
“They will be processed for disciplinary misconducts. Blood and urine samples will be taken to the police lab in Palembang, South Sumatra, for further analysis,” he said.
