AKARTA: The Jakarta Transportation Agency will reroute traffic at the Kuningan intersection in South Jakarta in an attempt to ease morning rush hour traffic in the area.

Agency chief Udar Pristono said that starting Monday, eastbound motorists would not be allowed to go from Semanggi to Grogol through the intersection, but instead had to use the overpass via Jl. Kapten Tendean or Jl. HR Rasuna Said.

“The intersection is one of the main traffic knots. With the rerouting we expect to ease the flow of westbound traffic between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.,” Udar said.

The Kuningan intersection connects Jl. Mampang Prapatan, Jl. Gatot Subroto, Jl. MT Haryono and Jl. HR Rasuna Said. It is part of the main east-west corridor for traffic in the city.
