ANGERANG: Hundreds of students staged a rally at the Serang administration office to express their concerns over the failure of the legislative council and the administration in improving people’s welfare.

The students made their criticisms in the form of theatrical performances, symbolizing the failure of Regent Taufik Nuriman and Deputy Regent Ratu Tatu Chasanah to lead the regency, which celebrated its 486th anniversary on Monday.

The leaders were criticized for their failure in handling three main problems: education, health and rising pollution along the Ciujung River.

“The administration allows offshore sand mining, while people’s welfare has been hit by a growing number of minimarkets,” said Taufik Hidayat, the rally’s coordinator.
