Councilor Priya Ramadhani passes away

riya Ramadhani, deputy chairman of the City Councilfrom the Golkar Party,  passed away atPondok Indah Hospital in South Jakarta on Friday afternoon. He was 60 yearsold. He reportedly suffered from asthma and bone cancer.  

Priya was the father of soap opera actress Nia Ramadhani, who changed her name to Ramadhania Ardiansyah Bakrie after getting married to Ardhyansyah Bakrie,  son of Golkar chairman and tycoon Aburizal Bakrie.  

'€œYes, Pak Priya passed away. I am on the way to his house on Jl. Benda [in South Jakarta],'€ City Council chairman Ferrial Sofyan told The Jakarta Post over the phone Friday.

He said he did not know where Priya would be buried. 

Priya, chair of Golkar'€™s Jakarta branch, was inaugurated as deputy speaker in June last year. He replaced another former Golkar politician Inggard Joshua, who resigned from the position to move to the NasDem Party.
