resident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to commission the operations of Kuala Namu International Airport in Deli Serdang regency, North Sumatra, on March 27.
The plan was disclosed in a coordination meeting at the office of the Kuala Namu Region II Airport Authority, in Medan on Tuesday, the airport's duty manager Djamal Amri said.
He said the inauguration ceremony had been planned for February. "We hope the plan is not postponed again and that it will be commissioned quickly," he said as quoted by Antara news agency.
At the coordination meeting, airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II's director for airport development affairs Salahuddin Rafi said the inauguration would conducted in a collective ceremony for the launch of two other new airports, namely the one in Pekanbaru (Riau province) and another one in Tanjungpinang (Riau Islands province).
