hairman of the West Java chapter of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Tubagus Hasanuddin, claimed on Sunday that his party had secured victory in 18 regencies and municipalities across the province.
Hasanuddin said the party's overall success was helped by its nine strongholds of Majalengka, Subang, Sumedang, Bandung, West Bandung, Ciamis, Kuningan, Karawang and Cirebon.
'Encouragingly, we won in several areas that are not traditional strongholds,' he said in a press conference.
Hasanuddin revealed that his party had won a twofold increase in votes in the cities of Bandung, Cirebon, Bogor, Sukabumi, Depok and Bekasi compared to the general election in 2009.
