rtha Graha boss Tommy Winata has refused to comment on the government's decision to revoke the fishing and transportation permits of fisheries company PT Maritim Timur Jaya (PT MTJ), a subsidiary of Artha Graha.
'Regarding MTJ, I don't know anything. Please ask the boss of MTJ,' he said at a low-cost market run by the Artha Graha Foundation in Jakarta on Monday.
Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti revealed recently that the ministry had revoked the fishing permits of five fisheries companies for their failure to submit financial reports to the ministry, as required by law.
Tommy did say, however, that his company would comply with the decision.
He admitted that he did not know precisely what was happening with MTJ. 'For now, I don't know precisely. It is an independent company in the sense that it has an owner and management, although it is a unit of Artha Graha,' he said.
'I have said that any unit of the Artha Graha network must comply with and respect all decisions made by the government,' he added.
Despite the government's decision, Tommy said he would continue to run fisheries businesses.
'We will continue working under the new regulations. If an old regulation becomes obsolete, and the new regulation is more stringent, that's fine ' I will abide by the stringent regulation,' he said as quoted by kontan.co.id.
MTJ operates in Tual, Maluku, and is one of five companies whose fishing and transportation permits have been revoked.
The other four are PT Dwikarya Reksa Abadi in Wanam, Papua, PT Indojurong Fishing Industries in Penambulai, Maluku, PT Pusaka Benjina Resources in Benjina, Maluku, and PT Mabiru Industries in Maluku. (rms)(++++)
