ctress Bunga Citra Lestari took intensive archery training for her upcoming film 3 Srikandi.
She will assume the role of Nurfitriyana S. Lantang, the national athlete whose team won Indonesia’s first medal at the Seoul Olympics in 1988.
“We practiced twice a week. We sustained wounds on our arms from the bow strings,” she said during a press conference on Monday.
The biopic also cast Chelsea Islan as Lilies Handayani, Tara Basro as Kusuma Wardhani and Reza Rahadian as coach Donald Pandiangan.
“From the training we got a glimpse of how hard the training was and how they had to rely on each other to win the competition.”
The film, directed by Iman Brotoseno, will be released on Aug. 4 in conjunction with the Rio Olympics, where Nurfitriyana will help coach the national team.
