AKARTA: Singer Fatin Shidqia Lubis, 19, was recently honored with the Best New Asian Female Act award at the DAF BAMA Music Awards 2016 in Germany.

“I’m thankful for the award. I asked the organizers how I got nominated. They said they looked for nominees through social media,” said Fatin, who won the Indonesian version of The X Factor in 2013.

She attended the awards ceremony where she performed her latest single “Away”.

“The audience didn’t understand the Indonesian lyrics, but they sang along with it,” Fatin said as quoted by tribunnews.com on Thursday.

Despite the international recognition, Fatin has not yet decided to start an international career.

“Going international is not as simple as performing in Singapore, for instance. It’s a big responsibility,” she said.

“I still have a lot of homework to do before getting ready for that.” — JP
