tate-owned airline company Garuda Indonesia launched the Jakarta-Mumbai flight on Monday as part of the national flag carrier’s program to strengthen air connectivity with India.
The new route was a realization of the airline’s overdue expansion plan to Asia, particularly to Mumbai, India, in Southern Asia.
“We are optimistic Mumbai is a promising market for us,” said Garuda Indonesia president director M. Arif Wibowo during a welcoming ceremony at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai late Monday.
Garuda Indonesia will serve the Jakarta-Mumbai flight via Bangkok three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It will depart from Jakarta using Boeing 737-800 NG at 12:55 p.m. and arrive in Mumbai at 8:30 p.m. local time with a stopover in Bangkok.
Meanwhile, the flight from Mumbai will depart at 11:20 p.m. local time and land in Jakarta at 10:05 a.m.
Aside from Mumbai, Garuda serves international destinations from Jakarta to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai (China), Seoul, Tokyo and Jeddah and Medina (Arab Saudi).
