oordinating Maritime Minister Luhut Pandjaitan has said the government will soon send a team to China to follow up on Indonesian investment offers to the country delivered during President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s visit to the country on Monday.

Among the projects offered during the visit were seaports in Bitung, in North Sulawesi and Kuala Tanjung in North Sumatra, as well as a power plant and an industrial estate in North Kalimantan.

"President Joko Widodo told President Xi Jinping during their farewell that next month, an Indonesian team would go to China to follow up the projects they discussed," Luhut said on Tuesday, adding that the President had also instructed officials to list projects that would be offered to China.

"We’re just waiting for an announcement from the President. It will involve a fairly big investment fund. China agreed with the program [for example] to produce palm oil-based bio-diesel B5 fuel. The project will need palm oil that we can supply," he said as reported by Antara.

Indonesia is the world’s largest producer and exporter of crude palm oil and China is a major consumer of the commodity.

The two-day forum that ended in China on Monday was attended by 29 heads of state and government as well as chiefs of international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to discuss synergy in policy, community relations and the development of infrastructure.

Luhut did not mention the investment figure agreed between Indonesia and China, but the other countries had already received fairly large investments from China. (bbn)
