ewly appointed Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan and Palestine, Andy Rachmianto, has officially taken up his duties in the Hashemite kingdom following the submission of his credentials to Jordanian King Abdullah II at the Basman Palace in Amman over the weekend.

Andy’s assumption of the post in Amman was welcomed with a state procession on Saturday, followed by an inspection of the guards of honor and the laying of a wreath of flowers at the Royal cemetery in honor of Jordan’s founding fathers.

“[I] conveyed warm greetings from President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on behalf of the Indonesian government and its people, and reaffirmed our commitment to continue deepening our bilateral relations with Jordan across all fields,” Andy told The Jakarta Post on Monday.

In a reciprocal gesture toward the two visits of King Abdullah II to Indonesia, the envoy said he was committed to bringing President Jokowi to Jordan sometime during his term.

According to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, King Abdullah II underscored the importance of both countries continuing their mutual support, increasing their cooperation and deepening their friendship with one another.

In the meantime, Andy said he would also be submitting his credentials to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas “in the near future.”
