Guess what: Adipati visits special needs school

ctor Adipati Dolken briefly joined a class at a special needs school to deepen his understanding for his role as a speech-impaired man in the newly released movie Namamu Kata Pertamaku (Your Name is My First Word).

“Adipati was accompanied by two special education teachers and a speech-impaired man named Akbar,” the movie’s director and writer, Rere Art2Tonic, told kompas.com.

Rere said he picked Adipati for the lead role given the latter’s acting skills. “And his gaze fits the role,” Rere added.

Namamu Kata Pertamaku (Your Name Is My First Word) follows a speech-impaired man called Si Bisu who embarks on a journey to Toraja, South Sulawesi, to learn how to speak. On his way, Si Bisu meets a mosque caretaker called Yunus (Bogel Apriansyah) who gives him shelter and food. Si Bisu then falls in love with Nila (Rania Putrisari), a girl he meets at the mosque. Unfortunately, his inability to speak prevents him from confessing his love for her.

The drama hits theaters on Thursday.
