legislative candidate in Central Lombok regency, West Nusa Tenggara, has acquired nationwide fame, not because of his proposed programs, but because of his unique name: Bobot Maksimum, which translates to Maximum Weight.
Bobot, 24, is from Kawo village in Pujut district in Central Lombok. He said his unique name made him a viral sensation on social media.
“I made an outdoor banner for my campaign and I did some social media campaigning as well. People share it because they think my name is unique,” Bobot told The Jakarta Post on Monday.
Bobot is actually not a large person. He said he weighed 56 kilograms and was 168 centimeters tall.
Many thought his name was not his real name but Bobot said it was the name he was given at birth and that all his documents had that name.

The young man said his programs would “improve the welfare of people in his electoral district”.
Bobot said his parents gave him the name because he was born underweight. “When I was born, I almost died. I had this illness; my stomach was bulging but I was thin,” he said. His parents planned on naming him Aryandika Putra Sentosa but changed it to Bobot Maksimum to wish him good health.
He said the name made him an awkward child at school because many people asked him about his name. However later, he was grateful for his name because he said it made him famous as a legislative candidate from the NasDem Party.
He said his younger sister and brother also had unique names. His sister is named Lulus Ujian Dari, or Passing the Test. He said his parents named her that because the family had just recovered from hardship when she was born. His younger brother’s name is Bibit Milinium or Millennium Seed.
“He was born when our economic condition was better. When he was born in 2005, there was this children’s TV program called Panji Manusia Milenium. It inspired my father to name my brother Bibit Milinium,” said Bobot, who runs a grocery store in his village. (evi)
