T

he Golkar Party has announced that a strategic program for 2019-2024, called Nawacita Chapter II from incumbent Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, was ready to be implemented should Jokowi be reelected as president in April.

“I am sure that the competitors did not prepare such a program,” Golkar Party chairman Airlangga Hartarto said in Jakarta on Friday as quoted by tribunnews.com .

Golkar is one among nine political parties behind Jokowi's reelection bid.

Airlangga, who is also the industry ministry in Jokowi's administration, said the economic growth target for 2020-2024 was 5.4 to 6 percent.

To achieve the target, Nawacita Chapter II focuses on six strategic steps, he said.

The first step is to strengthen the investment climate, open trade and boost involvement in the global production network. The second step is strengthening Indonesia’s research and development sector and accelerating its adoption of various technology.

The third step is to improve economic diplomacy and utilize free-trade deals; fourth is to optimize potential sources of economic growth; and finally, boost the manufacturing sector.

Airlangga also underlined Jokowi's policy on maintaining macroeconomic stability to support the country's manufacturing industry and its development

The Nawacita was first introduced as a nine-point development program during the 2014 presidential campaign by Jokowi and Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

Among the key points are the settlement of past human right abuses and corruption eradication. (gis/dmr)
