T

he Jakarta Police have revealed that participants in a brawl on Jl. Swadaya 3, Cakung, East Jakarta, on Sunday, live-streamed the brawl on the Instagram social media platform.

“They used cellphones to record the brawl live on Instagram,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said on Wednesday, kompas.com reported.

He said the police had arrested 13 suspects in the brawl.

“After our investigation we found 13 suspects, three of whom are underage and 10 are adults. They are members of the Tiga Serangkai, or Tiga Kampung group, from Kayu Tinggi, Pedurenan, and the Rawa Jahe apartment complex,” Argo said.

He said the 10 adult suspects would be charged under Article 170 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) on mass public brawling and unauthorized possession of a weapon, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years’ imprisonment.

“For the underage suspects, they will be charged under the Child Protection Law. They will receive different treatment. We have also contacted the correctional facility,” Argo said.

The brawl occurred between the Tiga Serangkai group and the Warjenk group on Jl. Swadaya 3, Cakung, on Sunday.

Tiga Serangkai came to the site on motorcycles and bearing weapons.

After the brawl, four members of the Warjenk group suffered multiple stab wounds.

The wounded were taken to the Colombia Hospital and Persahabatan Hospital to receive treatment. They have since been discharged. (ami)
