Administrative mistakes were cited as reasons for the revotes.
he local offices of the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) in Jakarta and East Java reported over the weekend that they recommended holding revotes at 19 polling stations (TPS) in Jakarta and 12 stations in East Java, including two in Malang.
“Two stations in Malang have to hold revotes and recount the votes,” said Malang Bawaslu officer Hamdan Akbar Safara.
Hamdan said administrative mistakes occurred involving voters that had cast the wrong ballots.
Meanwhile, in Jakarta, the local Bawaslu said at least 19 TPS in the city were likely to hold revotes. The figure was revealed based on 160 violation reports the agency received from TPS across the capital.
“We received 160 reports from five municipalities and one regency [in Jakarta]. We concluded that 19 TPS should hold revotes,” Jakarta Bawaslu commissioner Puadi said on Saturday, kompas.comreported.
Out of the 19 polling stations, six are located in East Jakarta, one in South Jakarta, two in Central Jakarta and 10 in North Jakarta.
Violations that occurred varied, Puadi said. He used TPS 172 Pademangan in North Jakarta as an example, where 37 voters’ addresses were found to not be in accordance with the TPS location.
People who were not on the voter list were allowed to vote using their e-ID as proof but only if they were residents of the area.
Puadi added that 121 ballots at a TPS in Cakung, East Jakarta, had been signed by voters, while they were supposed to be signed by the head of the local polling station working committee.
The agency is still discussing whether to recommend revotes for the 19 TPS. (vla)
