A rector candidate, Atip Latipulhayat, a professor from the School of Law, filed a civil lawsuit against the university's board of trustees and the higher education ministry with the Bandung District Court.
adjajaran University's appointment of an acting rector has led a rector candidate to file a civil lawsuit against the university's board of trustees (MWA) and the Research, Technology and Higher Education Ministry.
The state university's MWA has appointed as its acting rector Rina Indiastuti, secretary for the Research, Technology and Higher Education Ministry's learning and student affairs directorate general, after failing to find a successor for Tri Hanggono Achmad, whose term ended on April 13.
The decision led Atip Latipulhayat, a professor from the School of Law, to file a civil lawsuit against the university's MWA and the ministry with the Bandung District Court on Thursday.
Atip was one of three candidates nominated for the rector post, alongside Obsatar Sinaga from the School of Social and Political Sciences and Aldrin Herwany from the School of Economics and Business.
"I will be holding a press conference in Jakarta next week to give my explanation regarding this case," Atip said on Friday.
Rendy Anggara Putra, Atip's lawyer and the coordinator of the Padjajaran Alumnus Advocate Alliance, said his client had suffered losses due to this case.
"We are suing over material and non-material losses. In regard to non-material losses, the obscure process has disrupted Professor Atip's activities. We will be revealing our official statement during our press conference next week," Rendy said, refusing to elaborate on the figures of the losses experienced by Atip.
