Digital enthusiasts could get a golden ticket to employment with Bank Mandiri through a June 27-30 contest organized by the state-owned lender.
Through the "What the Hack" competition, Bank Mandiri aims to recruit digital talents to help develop the bank’s digital banking system, said the lender's president director, Kartika “Tiko” Wirjoatmodjo.
"We realize that adopting banking technology is necessary as mobile and digital services play prominent roles in people's lives,” Tiko said in a statement.
Through the help of tech experts from Google, Accenture and Redhat, it is hoped that the four-day competition will help identify 150 of the best programmers, designers and software developers, split into groups of three.
The judges will choose the three winning groups made up of nine individuals for full-time contract employment at Bank Mandiri. Some of the remaining contestants will be considered for positions in the bank’s information and technology (IT) department.
As of Monday, more that 4,000 people had registered for the contest, Bank Mandiri IT director Rico Usthavia Frans said. The organizers will also visit several universities to encourage more tech-savvy individuals to sign up for the contest. Registration opened on from May 1 and runs through June 2.
