Election dispute settlement in Constitutional Court 'useless’: Prabowo camp The Constitutional Court building in Jakarta (kompas.com/File)

A

head of the official announcement of the 2019 general election results on May 22, Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno campaign team member Fadli Zon said the team would not dispute the election results at the Constitutional Court.

The deputy chairman of the Gerindra Party said Prabowo and then-running mate Hatta Rajasa challenged the 2014 presidential election results at the court, but it proved to be “a waste of time.”

“It is likely that the campaign team will not go to the court. We did that in the 2014 election, and we saw that the court was useless in resolving the presidential election dispute. There is no point in going to the court," Fadli said on Wednesday. “There was a hearing marathon, but they did not look at the evidence,“ he added.

Fadli claimed that some of the judges were bias toward certain candidates.

In 2014, the Prabowo-Hatta team said the General Elections Commission (KPU) vote count was invalid, claiming that cheating had taken place.

The lawsuit was later rejected by the court.

Gerindra executive Raden Muhammad Syafii said the court did not examine 19 trucks of evidence and claimed that the team had collected more than 19 trucks of evidence this year.

"We are sure that the court will not check our evidence. Just like the last election […] they have succeeded in making us lose all faith [in the dispute settlement process," Syafii said.

Prabowo said on Tuesday that he would not accept the final result of the election issued by the KPU, which is expected to show that incumbent Jokowi secured his reelection.

Deputy chairperson of Prabowo’s campaign team, Priyo Budi Santoso, said the camp would withdraw its witnesses from the vote counting process.

A vote tabulation website controlled by pro-Prabowo volunteer groups, the National Tabulation of Volunteers for Changing President (Tabanas) showed that Prabowo had gained 59 percent of the vote. The data accounted for all provinces except Papua and West Papua.
