Three-car crash on Cipali toll road kills one traveler

traffic accident involving three vehicles at KM 119 of the Cikampek-Palimanan toll road killed one traveler and injured another on Sunday.

The accident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. on the lane heading from Jakarta to Central Java.

“The victims were rushed to Ciereng Hospital in Subang,” said West Java Search and Rescue Agency spokesman Joshua Banjarnahor.

The crash involved a Toyota Agya, Toyota Avanza and Honda Accord.

The deceased victim has been identified as 51-year-old Sutrisno from Cipondoh, Tangerang, Banten, who drove the Avanza. Meanwhile, his passenger, 19-year-old Dwiki Aprilian from Karanganyar, Central Java, suffered serious injuries.

Prior to the accident, Sutrisno reportedly pulled over to the side of the road then opened his car door without checking the traffic coming from behind him. A Honda Accord that was traveling in the slow lane then crashed into the door and was pushed into the fast lane, where it was hit by a third vehicle.

Another crash occurred along the northern West Java coast in Subang on Friday, involving a minibus and two motorcycles. Four people died in the accident.
