he Constitutional Court on Friday began hearing an appeal against the presidential election results lodged by losing candidates Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno while an estimated 1,500 people supporting the pair packed into the area.
Prabowo filed a lawsuit with the court on May 24, demanding that incumbent Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his running mate Ma’ruf Amin be disqualified. In the lawsuit, which largely relied on press reports, Prabowo claimed that some irregularities occurred during the election that resulted in Jokowi’s victory.
The judges, led by Justice Anwar Usman, were Aswanto, I Dewa Gede Palguna, Suhartoyo, Arief Hidayat, Wahiduddin Adams, Manahan MP Sitompul, Saldi Isra and Enny Nurbaningsih.
